You could even just take a little nibble. New York is five boroughs that each have many wonders to explore. Manhattan is at the very heart of the action with The Bronx, Brooklyn, Queens, and Staten Island wrapped around it. Each area has a unique scent and treasures to explore. Wherever you will want to see more of this most wonderful of cities.

In order to see some of the iconic sites, you should book them in advance. Make sure you buy a ticket that covers all the access you want. For example the general admissions for the Statue Of Liberty ticket grants you access to both Liberty Island, the Statue of Liberty Museum, and Ellis Island. If you want to climb to the pedestal or all the way to the crown you have to make sure you buy a ticket with that included. Enjoy the trip on the NY Ferry.

New York’s waterways are a great way to see the city, especially the East River Ferry. It is a liberating way to travel and take in the Manhattan skyline with the Empire State and Chrysler Buildings, New York Harbor and the Statue of Liberty. You will pass both the Manhattan and Williamsburg Bridges and see much more than you realize. You can get all the way to Brooklyn, past the old warehouses, and Brooklyn Bridge Park.

The Hudson River provides many different ways of seeing the city. You could power yourself along this infamous stretch of water. Try Kayaking in a group. If the children are too young you can take a special novice trip with a guide. For the more adventurous there is the option to hire a Stand Up Paddleboard.

Of the many different perspectives, you can now see New York from the High Line. You can walk along the disused freight railway line and enjoy exploring the West Side of Manhattan. It is a curious mix of an urban garden, art installation, and offbeat history. It is hard to believe that this attraction was saved from demolition and is a community funded enterprise. Go and find your favorite spot today.

There are many places to take in the majestic views but we should not forget to visit the National September 11 Memorial. It is a poignant reminder of how the skyline looked before the terrorist attacks brought the world to a standstill. You can read the names of all those who were murdered that day. The museum is housed in a glass atrium in between two pools. It is constructed out of the original World Trade Center. The memorial itself is free but museum tickets should be purchased in advance.

New York has so many museums that it is difficult to choose which ones to visit. Some of the sites have featured in some of the best-loved movies so maybe that is a place to begin. In the New York City Library, you could call Ghostbusters. If you don’t want to hunt the paranormal then maybe Spiderman could come to your aid. This branch is located on Fifth Avenue and you can browse the millions of items cataloged within or enjoy one of the special events.

Next to the library, you can chill out in Bryant Park. You can enjoy its famous carousel ride or play a game of chess. New York has so many green spaces to hide from the hustle and bustle of the frenetic city.

If you enjoy natural history then you will remember that the exhibits came alive at the American Museum of Natural History. Well, they did in the movies. It is the world’s largest collection of natural history exhibits and you will find it on the Upper West Side of Manhattan.

You will be entertained night and day in this town. Stop and enjoy the brightly lit billboards in Times Square. Enjoy a free concert or just drink in the unique atmosphere before finding some of New York’s top entertainment. There are so many theaters to choose from it can be a little overwhelming. From the myriad of Broadway Shows to the classic theatres choice is unbelievable. Radio City Music Hall, Carnegie Hall, Madison Square Gardens to name a few.

The New Yorkers’ sense of humor is legendary. Visit the Comic Strip Live for old school stand up comedy. This is the place where legends like Jerry Seinfeld, Eddie Murphy, Seth Rogen, and Adam Sandler honed their craft. You could try the open mic if you dare. Either way, you will have a fun night out.

Many of the most successful Jewish comedians started out there. New York has a large and varied Jewish population spread out over all the boroughs and the city is home to over 575 kosher eating places. Check out the most up to date NYC Kosher guide at TotallyJewishTravel.

There are many fascinating spots of Jewish interest from Jewish History to Jewish Worship. Lincoln Square Synagogue is one of the hundreds of places of worship that will have a prayer service for you. Or Try Shearith Yisrael established in 1654 and is potentially one of the oldest synagogues in America. Emma Lazarus was a member and her famous lines can be found on the Statue of Liberty. Whatever your religious affiliation you will marvel at the history of Jewish life in New York.

The Jewish Museum located just outside of Central Park is a wonderful day out. There are thousands of artifacts on display in permanent exhibitions or to be used in one of the many workshops available. I can’t recommend this museum enough. It has a delicious kosher café onsite too where you can sample some of the tastiest bagels and lox New York has to offer. If you don’t have time to visit during the week you can visit it on Shabbat, entrance is free but there are no audio guides or films working. You can prepay to have a brunch in the café.

The immigrant experience is charted in the Tenement Museum. Here you can see how the Jewish community lived alongside fellow immigrants. See how people lived and worked before making way for the next generation of immigrants. There are many different types of tour that the Tenement Museum offers that will send you back in time.

If you want an entirely Jewish history then try the Museum of Jewish Heritage in Battery Park. Its mission is to inform people about Jewish life before, after and during the Holocaust. There are many different education programs to participate in as well as touching memorials to the victims of the Shoah.

Traveling out of Manhattan is a must. If you head to Brooklyn there is a dedicated Jewish Children’s museum in Eastern Parkway. Explore Jewish life as we know it today or learn about Jewish history. Adults and children will be enthralled in these interactive exhibition halls.

If you have traveled all the way to Brooklyn you can end the day basking in nature. Try the botanical gardens which are a 52-acre paradise of horticultural delights. Or you could try Deano’s Wonder Wheel at Coney Island-who doesn’t love an amusement park? These are all free to enter with a New York Pass. If you are serious about seeing the sites then you should purchase one. They are valid from 1-10 days.

One last word to the wise-visit Governors Island if you are in New York between May and October.  There is so much to do on this historical island that has only relatively recently opened up to the public.  Until 1996 this island was owned by the military and now its managed by the parks authority you can stroll or cycle around the exhibits or chill out in the hammocks.

New York is a once in a lifetime experience for many. Tourists will always have a desire to come back and see more. They will see more because there is always more in this city that doesn’t stop.
